UEFA, football’s European governing body ranks Spain’s La Liga as the strongest football European league right now. A lot of that is down to the stunning performances of Spanish clubs in European competition over the past five years. Spanish clubs have been cemented their status among the best in the business and that has propelled the league to height it currently enjoys.

La Liga is the top football division of Spain that began proceedings way back in 1929. It is also called the Primera Division. Twenty of the top football clubs in the country go head to head every season with each team playing thirty eight matches. Every club plays each other twice on home and away basis. The team that finishes with the most points is declared the Spanish Champions. The three teams with lowest points are demoted to the second tier and the top three teams from the second division make the jump to the La Liga every season.

Real Madrid heads the list of teams with most La Liga titles with thirty two titles. They are followed by their arch rivals FC Barcelonawho have been crowned champions twenty one times.
